Sohn des Chr. F. Stölzel. Ab 1807 Schüler der Dresdner Kunstakademie. 1821-28 Stipendien-Aufenthalt in Italien. Ehrenmitglied der Kunstakademie Perugia. 1828 Rückkehr nach Dresden.
